Linda Combes, LCSW

I believe I have the best job in the world! Here’s how I got here.

Before working as a therapist, I earned a Master’s degree in Education (concentration in English), taught writing at the college level and directed the University of Kentucky Writing Center. Although I enjoyed teaching, my passion for helping others inspired me to become a therapist.

After earning my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky, I served as a therapist at the University of Kentucky Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic; the owner/director of Riding to Success, a therapeutic horsemanship program where I combined my vocation (mental health) with my avocation (horses); and as a therapist at a mid-sized private mental health practice.

These 30+ years of diverse professional experiences helped me develop the vision and expertise to create this private mental health practice.

My areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety and depression. I’m certified to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have gained extensive experience providing in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I’ve also earned certifications as an Equine-Facilitated Mental Health Specialist and an Equine Specialist.

What is your confidentiality policy?

With some notable exceptions, communication with therapists is protected by law. The exceptions to the rule of confidentiality are in cases of suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse and when the client is an imminent and violent threat to themselves or others. If you want me to consult with someone regarding your treatment, such as family members, physicians, or school personnel, you must first sign a Release of Information form granting me permission to communicate.
