Are you concerned about your adolescent? If so, you’re not alone.
This is a particularly tough time to be growing up. Effective help can be a real game-changer for tweens/teens and their families.
Parents often call me when they notice their tween/teen experiencing one or more of the following:
- avoiding activities, school, family or social interactions
- experiencing a drop in grades
- feeling depressed or irritable
- spending long periods of time online with social media or gaming
- worrying excessively
- lashing out at others
- self-harming
- having difficulties sleeping or concentrating
- engaging in risky behaviors
- having difficulties making or keeping friends.
My Approach
I enjoy working with youth (ages 11 and older) and approach them like I approach the adults I treat: as experts in their own experience. After a thorough assessment, I will offer you and your tween/teen a treatment plan. Together, we will determine the best approach. All sessions are designed to help strengthen parent-teen relationships and help your teen:
- process difficult emotions
- discover new insights
- unearth strengths
- learn new emotional, behavioral, and communication skills
Expressive arts and animal-assisted activities can be added to deepen engagement, ignite motivation and augment evidence-based therapy.
